Interview with Dr. Wendy K Matthews
During the ASIAC music festival, we had a fantastic guest conductor Dr. Wendy K Matthews. I had the pleasure of sitting down to ask her a few questions while she was here. Who is your favorite composer? I like lots of composers. Whoever the composer is, that composer is my favorite. What is your favorite dynamic? (ex) crescendo, pp, my
Forte because I play the trumpet. What is your favorite note? I like the G major scale because my dog will bark whenever I play that note. What attracted you to this job? Power. I like to be in charge and if you play the trumpet, clarinet, flute you often have the melody so I wanted to have power. Take your instruments wherever you go and play! Which song was your favorite? How to train your dragon because you guys did so good! What is the most important thing that you learned in your music school? The most important thing that I learned is that treat people with respect and like music. What kind of music do you like? I like moving music. Some of my best friends are musicians. We used to do so many mean things to each other like we used to change the Note and wait for my friends to mess up. I worked with John Williams who composed the Harry Potter theme song.
