Amazing April

Again there is a month gone. It’s April. Wow, time goes past amazingly fast. Not that I don’t like it. I’m glad it’s April. Oh, and if you saw my March article, I hope you participated in the Earth hour. If you did not..well that’s a shame. If you did participate, thank you. Shall we go straight into the news? The first event is April fool’s day. I’m not sure about you, but I haven’t really seen any April Fool’s pranks before. Anyway, you probably know that people yell “April Fools!!” when they complete a prank. I would be honestly surprised if you never heard it before coming out of someone’s mouth. They say tricking people to think that their shoes are untied is the most played trick. A grand April fools trick I read about was in the early 1960s. A TV show made their show black and white then told the viewers that they could see it in colour by pulling a nylon stocking over the screen. It obviously didn’t work. I wish I could’ve seen the viewer's reaction when it didn’t work. But I don’t think they pull major pranks anymore. Not that I know of. The second Holiday is Easter. You could say that this is the ‘cover’ holiday of April. Easter key words. Eggs, more eggs, and a creepy bunny with a zipper. You probably know what I mean if you played animal crossings. People dread Easter because of him. The reason Easter is celebrated is because of the resurrection of Jesus. This holiday is related to the Passover meal also. But non-believers celebrate this holiday by decorating eggs and rolling them. The most popular activity would be egg-hunting. People(mostly kids) hunt decorated eggs hidden in the household. The most famous annual celebration is the White House Egg Roll. Kids roll eggs down the Capitol Hill. Another tradition is where a white bunny delivers Easter eggs to kids. Personally, I have never participated in an Easter celebration. The last holiday (more like an event) is jelly bean day. You probably think there is no such thing. But there is, google it if you have to. I couldn’t find any information about how it was created, so I brought some fun facts. Jelly Belly(a popular jelly bean manufacturer) said that the most popular flavours of jelly beans were the cherry and buttered popcorn flavoured ones. Some people say that jelly beans were popularised in the American Civil War when people were encouraged to give soldiers candy. We all need sugar to hold up, especially in hard situations. Ronald Regan, the former president of the U.S. was known to love jelly beans - they used 3 tons of red, blue, white jelly beans in his inauguration (a ceremony marking the start of a president’s commencement). This day isn’t that special; but how about you use this as an excuse for you to eat jelly beans? But I hope you enjoyed this article and thank you for reading till the end! (Make sure you eat jelly beans~) See more stories by—> #Hyeonseo <— here Sources: https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/fun/jelly-bean-day https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/history-of-easter https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/world/april-fools-day
