This year, 5 middle school teachers are leaving or moving out of the middle school. Over the final weeks of school, The Direct Message will post an ‘Exit Interview’ that we conducted with each of these educators. What will you miss most about AES? The amazing friendships I've made throughout the years... The tremendous sense of community we share.... Wednesday night softball. What is the best part about being a teacher at AES? Definitely Ernst & Young. What are your plans for next year and what are your thoughts about this next step? I'm heading to Shanghai American School in China. I've lived in China before, but this will be my first time living in Shanghai, so I'm really excited about this opportunity. How do you hope your students and colleagues will remember you? Just as their favourite PE teacher with an amazing singing voice and super-slick dance moves. What message would you like to leave for the community at AES? I'm proud of each and every one of you. I will miss you all considerably. And now, a few words from Mr. Q’s students: Jack, Grade 8 What will you remember about this teacher? I will remember how motivated he is to teach his subject to his students. What is a funny or memorable story that you have about this teacher? (class, WOW, coaching, after school activities, etc.) A funny memory in JV volleyball is when he made us receive his serves and no one could do it because he was too strong. What makes this teacher unique? He's unique because not only is he a good teacher but a coach. Maya, Grade 6 What will you remember about this teacher? He has good humor, makes class fun and lights up the room. What is a funny or memorable story that you have about this teacher? (class, WOW, coaching, after school activities, etc.) Once when we were doing Just Dance in class, I got a mega star high score. Mr Q looked at me and said… “Pop off queen.” What makes this teacher unique? He’s funny and he makes super random jokes that always make me laugh. Selma, Grade 6 What will you remember about this teacher? I used to hate PE but Mr Q made me love it!! What is a funny or memorable story that you have about this teacher? (class, WOW, coaching, after school activities, etc.) One time he called me Selma Alabama. What makes this teacher unique? He has a tattoo of a bear riding a unicycle. See more stories from #Emma
