They were in the game, right till the end but it eventually went Netherlands’ way. The Dutch had no shot on target till the 84th minute. Two after that minute saw them score twice. This takes them to the top of the table, ahead of Ecuador. The Netherlands will take on Ecuador next while Senegal will face Qatar.

Senegal beats Qatar 3-1 and the Lions clinch their first win of the Fifa World Cup 2022. Qatar’s World Cup dream is all but over after the loss. If the Netherlands can prevent a loss against Ecuador in the Group B match later today, Qatar will be out of the World Cup. It will also be the only host nation apart from South Africa, failing to qualify for the knockouts.
