Premtalk (Matchday 8)

Hello and welcome to Premtalk, where we talk about what’s happening in the English Premier League.

Looking Back:

In Matchday 8, we saw Tottenham beat Luton Town 0-1, with Tottenham scoring in the fifty-second minute. Fulham netted a 3-1 win against Sheffield following their 2-0 loss against Chelsea last week.

Chelsea beat Burnley 1-4, which is a good sign for Chelsea after their inability to produce goals in most of the matches they’ve played this season. Manchester United, the other team with a disappointing start to the season, won against Brentford 2-1.

Everton beat Bournemouth 3-0, with Jack Garner (8’), Jack Harrison (37’), and Abdoulaye Doucouré (60’) all scoring for Everton. Crystal Palace tied against Nottm Forest, 0-0. Brighton and Liverpool tied 2-2 with Salah scoring two goals for the Reds. West Ham and Newcastle also tied 2-2 with Alexandar Isak scoring both goals for Newcastle. Wolves against Aston Villa ended 1-1, with the Wolves midfielder, Mario Lemina being given a red card in stoppage time at the end of the match. The TDM top match, Arsenal vs Man City ended in a 1-0 win for Arsenal after Gabriel Martinelli scored for Arsenal in the eighty-sixth minute.

As It Stands:

Manchester City, the team that looked unbeatable this year have dropped down to third after they lost to Arsenal. Tottenham and Arsenal now lead the table with both teams being tied with twenty points, don’t count Manchester City out of championship contention, they’re only two points away from Tottenham and Arsenal. The battle to get out of relegation stays the same, with Burnley (18th), Bournemouth (19th), and Sheffield United (20th) remaining in those three relegation spots.

Looking Forward:

Matchday 9 contains the following fixtures:

TDM’s Top Match:

For Matchday 9, we think that the North London Derby, between Chelsea and Arsenal, will be the match to keep an eye out for this time. Both teams have a longstanding rivalry dating back to the 2002 FA Cup, in which both teams faced off in the finals. Another, more recent clash between Chelsea and Arsenal happened in the 2019 Europa League, in which both teams again faced off in the finals.

That’s all for this edition of Premtalk, we’ll see you next time after Matchday 9.
