It is a student’s duty to study and manage their grades. However, it can be very stressful for students when they struggle in their studies or get low grades. There must be a number of students in the world who want to change their study habits or improve their skills in studying like studying with full concentration. If you think you are one of those students and think you need some changes for you to study better, the following tips can help you to study more efficiently.

1.Make a study plan

When you have too many things to study, it may seem hard to get through everything. Arrange your priorities and plan what you will study in which subjects in a day. In addition, you can always make a weekly goal and plan how you will achieve that goal, which lets you know how much you are keeping up with your work and what needs to be accomplished much easier compared to not setting the weekly goals. Furthermore, this helps you manage your time and schedule which also may allow you to prevent procrastinating.

“I believe making a study plan is a good idea. I have never met people and friends who are successful and didn't have a plan. I usually set up a goal and plan a timeline of how to achieve it. It's helpful to reflect on my learning or action toward the goal.”

-Mr.Fumi(MS math teacher)

“I think that making a study plan is an efficient and effective way to study. Making a study plan sets a daily goal for the day and helps me wisely use the time for studying.”

-Chloe(A MS student)

2.Retrieval practice

Retrieval practice is based on the concept of remembering at a later time. Recalling an answer to a question improves learning more than looking for the answer in your textbook or documents. If you practice retrieval regularly, you are more likely to remember the information later on. And of course this way is much more effective and efficient than trying to memorize everything in just a few days before you have your exams.

2.

Create your own routine

Many educators say to maximize your studying skills, you should try to find your own method of studying. Others’ studying routine or their tips would be helpful for someone who feels lost how to manage their time and work. However, you should know what is best for you. Just following what others told you to do might not be able to fully help you.

When you have a lot of time before exams, like the beginning of a new semester, you could try out different ways of studying and then you could apply the method that best suits you as you go through the school year.

Despite you finding studying boring or not cut out for you, you still have to keep on working hard for your future, your life. Referring to the tips above, hopefully you will be able to figure out what is the best way for you to study most effectively and prevent giving up your study. Good luck!
