What will you miss the most about AES?

“I will miss just about everything! I have the best students, colleagues, support staff, teaching assignment and facilities. I’ve had so much fun doing the plays and watching students come alive onstage, and seeing the Design/Tech crew take ownership backstage.”

What is the best part about being a teacher at AES?

“The students. I like the small class sizes and the chance to get to know my students and develop positive relationships with them and my colleagues.”

What are your plans for next year and what are your thoughts about this next step?

“I will be retiring! I’m moving back home to Napa, California, and will be with my family. I think we are going to get a golden retriever puppy, and do some traveling.”

How do you hope your students and colleagues will remember you?

“I hope they will remember me as someone who was kind, supportive and as someone who loved bringing people together to put on plays.”

What message would you like to leave for the community at AES? “It has been an awesome experience and I will treasure the memories of my time here.”

What the students had to say.

What will you remember about Ms. Rogers?

I’m really going to miss Ms. Rogers a lot because her creativity makes me think really creatively. She also helps a lot with our project in class and she always comes up with many amazing and interesting ideas.

What is a funny or memorable story that you have about Ms. Rogers?

On WOW when we had the Aquaterra talent show, I clearly remember Ms. Rogers as the main voice of the teachers act with involved monsters, and it was hilarious.

What makes Ms. Rogers unique?

She is always so cheerful, being around her always brings a smile on my face. She spreads a good atmosphere, and overall you just have a great time.

Deven, Grade 8

What will you remember about Ms. Rogers?

The one thing that I will really remember about Ms.Rogers is how invested she was. This is not case specific to me, she just really cared about each of her students. She realized that they had their lives to live and helped them in any way she could to do whatever it was they wanted to do.

What is a funny or memorable story that you have about Ms. Rogers?

During the course of 2018 ASIAC drama, we missed our flight. This was a very memorable moment as it really drew the team together and gave us that spirit that we needed. This was also super memorable because 2 students (Bernie and I) were bumped up to first class! But the thing that I really remember from all this is how calm Ms. Rogers was, and how she adapted accordingly.

What makes Ms. Rogers unique?

What really makes Ms.Rogers unique is how she really changes her teaching style according to your personality. This of course, is also complemented by the fact that Ms. Rogers is an excellent judge of character. When she first meets a student she can almost immediately tell what type of style there was.

What is a funny or memorable story that you have about Ms. Rogers?

What makes Ms. Rogers unique?

“I will remember how Ms. Rogers let us put stage makeup. on each other and have fun while we were preparing for the musical. When we were rehearsing for the musical, I was running the sound booth. Practicing for the musical was very repetitive, and to start over a song they would have to yell up at me to let me know, as the sound booth was high up. Eventually, we developed a routine where she would just have to yell “CARRIE!” and I would start the song over again. It was a fun pattern that exemplified how much fun it was to work with her.Ms. Rogers could always make something relatively boring into something fun.We had a unit where we were making infomercials. Usually, infomercials are seen as so boring and monotonous, but she made it fun and exciting, even artsy!”
