MESAC as an 8th Grader: My Experience

Last weekend, many 8th graders travelled to the Middle East for the MESAC tournament. Personally, I just came back from Oman after the JV Football competition. Many of you may have already heard about MESAC whether you are a 6th or 7th grader waiting for the chance to participate or an 8th grader doing them. Well, whoever you are, I want to tell you that MESAC is such an amazing and fun competition. You meet so many new people, spend so much time with friends and have lots of freedom.

MESAC is a competition among six schools in the Middle East: the American School of Dubai, Dubai American Academy, American Community School of Abu Dhabi, American British Academy in Muscat, Oman, and the American School of Doha. I competed in MESAC football where, despite the fact that we got hammered and came last place, I had so much fun. Within three days, we packed in six games including one for 5th or 6th place. All the students felt the organising and quality of the trip was good. The pitches were absolutely amazing and looked like they could be used in professional matches. A highlight of the trip was meeting people from other schools. They were so nice and it is crazy to think that we will see them in tournaments for years to come. As someone who may do track next season, I was eagerly asking my friends, “ARE YOU DOING TRACK???”, as I am so desperate to see them again.

So, if you are wondering whether to do a MESAC, trust me, you’ll have the time of your life. I think that everyone on this trip thoroughly enjoyed it and wouldn’t change a thing about it. Here’s a quote from David on what they thought about the trip, “I really enjoyed the trip because I had time to spend with my friends and teammates” - David Baig G8. I hope that after reading this, you will want to participate in MESAC.`
