    No ASIAC Sports? NO DEAL!

No ASIAC Sports? No deal. Cancelling ASIAC Sports made a lot of people mad. I can’t disagree with them. Assaf Mamalia, an 9th grader who played in numerous ASIAC sports, had this to say: “Imagine waiting a year for just a few games, those couple of games get canceled…” He is correct. We all know the reason why Asiac is cancelled : COVID-19, also known as coronavirus is an infecting disease, deadly to elder people, is a pandemic that has caused chaos. The worst part about this

    Humans of Middle School: Sarah

“In my free time I like to read and sometimes play basketball with my dad in our front yard. I participated in ASIAC because my mom made the team when she was in high school. She felt that I should try out, because I was able to travel last year, and I was able to see how fun it was to travel and be part of the team and a representative of our school. When I made the team, I felt excited and nervous. I was excited to travel and get to know more people but nervous that we woul

    Double Dub for AES!

The ASIAC 2018 tennis tournament was hosted by the American School of Bombay. Sweat pours out of our perseverant players while they were fighting for each point. Watching our tennis players represent our school and chase for every ball is something that I was proud of. Source: ASB Photographer On the first day of the tournament, our tennis team played 32 games and won 31 out of 32 games and had 158 points at the end of the day. I couldn’t believe that we were 72 points ahead

“It was very fun spending time with my friends and playing volleyball with people I don’t know. Although it was very awkward playing with other people, we all played good and respected each other by playing with good sportsmanship. My team, which was AES came first, winning all of our games. It was very hard, but we were still able to beat lots of good teams like Chennai A team, Bombay A team and our own school’s B team. Our B team, the Tigers came 3rd. They lacked in communi

The teams walk into to the school’s gym. Everyone sees the nets lined up. All of the players take their positions on the opposite sides of the court. Then it starts. The small birdies fly in all directions, people running across the courts diving to keep the birdie from hitting the ground. Winning or loosing everyone try’s their best to earn as many points as they can before themselves or their opponent wins the game. The winners earning more points for their team smile happi

    ASIAC Table Tennis

Photo credit: Nisha Sethi Photo credit: Nisha Sethi It’s a competition to some but for others it is war. A table of play to them sounds like an arena. For some it is the beginning that counts, but to others it’s the finish that declares the truth. For some it is the experience, for others it is the skills. For some it feels like an opportunity to shine, and for others it is the moment they had been waiting for. Smash, Block, Spin — simple tactics that sound like invasion plan

Humans of Middle School: Tanush Soni!

How do you balance out MESAC tennis, and ASIAC? I do Asiac on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and Saturday’s, and Mesac on Monday Wednesday Friday, and Saturday. On weekdays, I reach home after 7 everyday. It’s a busy schedule, but I get to play my two favorite sports throughout the week! So it’s worth it! Doing homework and getting enough sleep is tough, but again, I think it’s worth it. What made you decide to do both ASIAC table tennis and MESAC? In 6th grade my friends told me t

The Most Epic Final in ASIAC Soccer History

It was time to go head to head with the unbeatable team. Bombay. No team in the tournament had scored a goal against them, but could that change in this final match with AES going against ASB girls? Both teams lined up on the field to shake hands and wave at the spectators. It was the last match of the tournament and could be one of the most intense matches. “Beep” officially the game had started. Bombay had started the kickoff and passed it back to defense so they could play

Black And Gold Day – The Start Of Spirit Week

Black and gold day started out with the parade of the teams that are playing the ASIAC tournament. There was a group of dancers and musicians leading the parade followed by Mr. and Ms. T, our Mascots, and behind them, the teams. The students cheered loudly but they cheered the loudest for our school. As the teams were passing under the bridge, there were balloons being thrown down at them. Throughout the day, lots of kids went to the ASIAC games, especially during the last pe

As the students from Chennai and Bombay made their way along the parade route from the Peace Garden to the Tiger Turf, the crowd cheered to recognized the start of the first ASIAC tournament of the year. But as the American Embassy School came through at the end of the parade, the roar was unmatched. Colored balloons dropped from the ES Bridge, matching the school colors of each team. One ASB coach proudly exclaimed, “Our kids felt like Bollywood stars!” Photo Credit: Sora Sh

“Once I finished playing in all of the seasons this year, I felt very proud of myself. Looking back to my experiences in sixth grade, I think that I have been able to grow and become a lot better this year. I feel very happy with myself in the sense that I have worked very hard to make each team, and to improve for each sport. I feel proud of the fact that I tried new things, and in the end, thoroughly enjoyed them.”- Maya Dhar #HumansofMiddleSchool #Sports #ASIAC #7thGrade #

ASIAC Basketball: The Making of Superstars

The assembly before March 14th sprouted exciting boys and girls – it was announced that ASIAC Basketball would begin. On Tuesday, March 14, both girls and boys rushed from their classes, changed into their sweat absorbing shirts and rushed towards the two gyms. The people standing outside the Tigers Kiosk were taken by surprise – they’d never seen such a mob rush past. The boys immediately entered the Main Gym where their coaches awaited them, and the girls rushed up to the A
